Dr. Roger P. Moynihan and Dr. Amy B. Jessel
Dr. Roger Moynihan was born and raised in Holyoke, MA. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1979 with a B.A. in Chemistry. He then attended Northwestern University Dental School, and graduated in 1983. After dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT.
Dr. Amy Jessel was raised in Palos Verdes, CA and graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Zoology in 1979. She also attended Northwestern University Dental School and graduated in 1983. After dental school, she completed a General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in La Jolla, CA.
In 1985 the doctors were married, and each spent four years working as associate dentists in the Los Angeles area. Their dream was to one day work together and to establish a practice which would serve the community with excellent dentistry from caring, family-friendly professionals that put the patient first. In 1988, they moved to northern San Diego county, and opened Mission Family Dentistry in Oceanside.
The doctors are past and present members of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Diego County Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Seattle Study Club, North County Networking, and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. When not practicing dentistry, they are both involved in several community service organizations. Dr. Moynihan was a volunteer with Project Wildlife’s raptor team for 16 years, and is currently a responder for CERT and a member of the Fallbrook Amateur Ham Radio Club. Dr. Jessel volunteers her time doing philanthropic work and enjoys interior decorating. They have an 20 year old daughter, Katie, who is currently in the dental hygiene program at Northern Arizona University, and a 25 year old son, Rob, who lives in Los Angeles and is a writer for TV Guide Magazine.

Our office manager, Tricia, has been a part of our team since 1995. She brings a wealth of knowledge to our practice with over 30 years experience in the dental field, and she is the first person you’ll likely encounter when you call our office. Whether you need to schedule an appointment, or have insurance or billing concerns, she is always ready to assist you with any questions that you may have. Amber is the newest member of our team, and assists Tricia in the front office when she isn't taking classes at Mira Costa College.
Martha and Sharon are our Registered Dental Hygienists. They not only perform gentle and thorough cleanings, but they are also experts in the field of periodontal disease. Since it is the goal of our practice to practice prevention, they help our patients maintain the health of their teeth and gums. They are also both certified to provide Vizilite examinations to screen our patients for oral cancer.
Angela and Tami are our chairside Registered Dental Assistants. Between them, they have over 35 years of dental experience in all facets of general dentistry. If you are interested in teeth whitening, Tami is our expert in ZOOM bleaching. With her bilingual abilities, Angela is able to translate for our Spanish-speaking patients. Both of them are dedicated to making your dental appointment a relaxing, enjoyable one.
